Custom Stunt Cage Build: One-Off Fabrication for a Dirt Bike Rider
Every now and then, a project comes through the shop that pushes creativity, precision, and patience to the next level. This custom dirt bike stunt cage was one of those jobs—and one I won’t forget anytime soon.
A customer reached out looking for a fully welded steel stunt cage for his dirt bike. It needed to be tough enough for serious stunt riding, but also custom-fitted to the bike with clean lines and no compromises.
Fabricating the Frame
I used 1.25” .095 wall DOM tubing, bending each section with precision using my tubing bender. The cage had to mount to the bike's frame at several points for strength and stability, and it had to look like it belonged there—not like an afterthought.
It was a process of trial and error—measuring, bending, fitting, adjusting—until the cage wrapped the bike just right.
Design Changes On the Fly
After most of the welding was done, the customer decided to change the peg location. That meant reworking part of the structure without compromising the strength or symmetry of the cage. It wasn’t easy—but I pulled it off, and the final design was even better than we originally planned.
A Job Well Done
The customer was pumped with how it turned out—and I was proud of how the build came together. Projects like this are why I do what I do: turning raw steel into something that works hard and looks sharp.
